This case study is for a key building within a major UK organisation where water treatment issues were impacting on their ability to operate

Issue and initial site survey

A memo was released by the Department of Health (DOH) and this was the reason we were contacted by a large hospital to undertake surveys on their behalf.
The memo related to cold water tank supports and the issues surrounding hollow supports which can contain stagnant water and have been proven to contain bacteria.
We found hollow tank support were in situ and advised the client.

Next stage – report and proposal

Future Water compiled a proposal in accordance with HSC ACoP L8, HSG 274 and HTM 04 01, the report detailed our unique approach to this issue which not only works, but importantly is designed to reduce waste and is more cost-effective than other after market supports

A proposal was issued to rectify the issues:
  1. Hollow tank supports which contain stagnant water which could lead to microbial issues within the water systems
  2. To clean and disinfect the affected tanks following the works in accordance with HSC ACoP L8, HSG 274 and HTM 04 01.

The works were requested to proceed and were completed by Future Water staff.

The outcome

Since the works were undertaken it has been noted that microbial results including Legionella, TVC and Pseudomonas have improved
